NCEED’s Director Dr. Carstarphen opened Leadership Baltimore County‘s leadership development retreat on Wednesday, April 22. The event was focused on K-12 educational inequities in the Baltimore region.
Held at Baltimore County Public Schools’ Lansdowne Middle School, the retreat covered an assessment of our region’s K-12 disparities, the primary contributing factors, future trends that will impact education, and effective practices that can be taken to improve outcomes. Thank you to Morgan State’s Dr. John Brandau for the invitation and to Lansdowne Middle School principal (and Leadership Baltimore County team member) Ryan Warfel, for hosting. Though the majority of attendees did not have a day-to-day professional role in K-12 education, their participation and enthusiasm for the topic was appreciated as each of us can have a positive impact on our region’s educational outcomes no matter our role.
