Under the guidance of Dr. Simone Gibson,NCEED hosted another fantastic Battle of the Books on Friday, April 24.  Held at MSU’s main campus, 383 students competed in total (including the in-school battles).  We were thrilled to see 28 schools represented at this annual event.

Per NCEED’s Director Dr. Meria Carstarphen: “It was truly a privilege to be there in person and witness the energy, preparation, and pride that filled the room! What [Dr. Gibson] created was far more than a competition. It was a celebration of curiosity, teamwork, and the power of reading. Watching students confidently participate and support one another made it clear that this experience is shaping not only strong readers, but thoughtful thinkers and collaborators.”

Books featured as part of the competition included: Balto & Togo; Gracie Under the Waves; Invisible Isabel; Max in the House of Spies; The Sherlock Society; A Strange Thing Happened in Cherry Hall; Tree. Table. Book.; Ant Story; Gamerville; Survival Scout.
