NCEED recently held their end of year social event for our third NBC (National Board Certification) cohort. Held at the HOEN Building and led by NBC Coordinator Esther Ward, we were thrilled to celebrate the candidates and mentors after a year of diligent work. Candidates, during this first year of preparation, participated in activities that included writing and studying to submit Components Two and Four.
Per the National Board Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), National Board Certification “was designed to develop, retain and recognize accomplished teachers and to generate ongoing improvement in schools nationwide…. Developed and revised by practicing educators based on research and practitioner expertise, the National Board Five Core Propositions and Standards describe what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do to have a positive impact on student learning. National Board Certification identifies teachers who meet those standards through a performance-based, peer-reviewed series of assessment components.”
