Tiera Brown is a licensed clinical social worker and supervisor, emerging sociologist, and Graduate Research Assistant at Morgan State University. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Frostburg State University and her Master of Social Work from Howard University. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Applied Sociology and Social Justice at Morgan State University, with a concentration in Community Development and Social Change.

As a Graduate Research Assistant, Tiera contributes to research examining the experiences, identities, mental health, and well-being of Black students and communities. Her developing scholarship is informed by more than a decade of professional experience and reflects an interdisciplinary approach that bridges social work, sociology, and social justice.

Tiera’s research interests lie at the intersection of race, culture, trauma, mental health, education, and structural inequality. She is particularly interested in examining how broader social and institutional conditions shape individual and collective experiences and how research can contribute to culturally responsive practices, equitable systems, and healthier communities.
